"Quinta de San Sebastián", relaxation villa
belonging to Servet Family.
Built by Pedro Cerdán Martínez, architect
who was born in Torre Pacheco between the years 1888-1895,
for Servet Family. Typical relaxation villa with a picturesque
architecture quite influenced by the English style that
was predominant in summer places; We can emphasise in
its acute roof which will influence other "Quintas"
along the coast.
It is rounded by eucalyptus trees areas and a palm trees
parade that shows us the way to the house.
It is an eclectic-picturesque building due to the mix
of architectural elements from different styles. In it,
vertical lines, emphasised by the use of bricks in lintels
and corners alternating with masonry plastered in white,
and the absent of superfluous decoration are predominant.
In the front, it is outstanding a wood-made knife with
the structural function of supporting the roof. The roofs
were crowned with ornamental elements made of wrought
steel that emphasised the verticality.
Inside the building, it is outstanding the wood carving
stairs, the coffert ceiling, the billiard room and the
chapel which gives to the "Quinta" his name.
The stairs are of an imperial style, supported by two
wood-made pillars.
The billiard room is outstanding because of its original
decoration; painted in green, the decorative motives are
the typical of this game: the sticks on the corner of
the roof and the billiard balls in all the moulding.
