Travelling over Spain

"La Casa del Reloj, a monument worthy of being visited".

Seizing the fact of being spending some free days by the zone of Mar Menor, we visited San Pedro del Pinatar.

Going for a walk, I saw an advertisement in its shopping district in which I could see a picture of "La Casa del Reloj"; this fact, attracted me because it was a beautiful architectural resort of the modernism from Murcia.

I was situated in it at once. It is placed in the "Finca de San Sebastián" and it is a nice mansion from the 19th century; but what really makes it different is the fact that, during some time, the President of Government Emilio Castelar was living there.

Apparently, Emilio Castelar was a close friend of Servet Family.

They invited him to spend a long time in this beautiful place situated in Mar Menor and he accepted their invitation and what a paradox!, he died here.
Now, and due to the first centenary of his death, the municipal government of San Pedro del Pinatar is planning a series of acts: exposures, speeches, etc

This place, where one of the most famous restaurant in Murcia was erected, was equipped some years ago.

Hace varios años se ha habilitado este lugar y se ha instalado uno de los restaurantes más famosos de la región.

The restaurant "La Casa del Reloj" is specialised in rice "a la leña" and meat
"a la piedra" but what really makes it different is the permanent exposure of paintings, sculptures and antiques that we can contemplate in it.

The works of more than 30 different artists, national and international, make more agreeable our meals. The decoration of this place is a luxury decoration. The restaurant is managed by Francisco Sánchez and it is an important meeting place for families and friends around a museum that accompanies us while we are tasting the good foodstuffs from the area.

A lot of important people have been in this place; between them, we have seen some pictures of Miss Germany, the actress Mari Paz Pondal, the prince Felipe of Spain and a great deal of painters and sculptors.

We also have the chance of joining this group of important people if we go to this monument, worthy of being visited, when spending some time in Murcia.
